Family run hotel

Gatwick Belmont Hotel is one of the superior independently family run small Gatwick hotels in the LGW area, set in the quiet, leafy residential Surrey town of Horley on Massetts Road. Despite our close location to Gatwick, unlike some Gatwick hotels, we’re not in the Gatwick flight path and located literally just 5 minutes from Gatwick Airport. It’s the ideal location for those travellers seeking convenient Gatwick airport hotel accommodation, without the noise and bustle of large hotels near Gatwick.

 24/7 Check in

Of course, our ideal location isn't the only key to our success. Many of our customers return time and time again due to our competitive hotel rates, cleanliness, friendliness and our shuttle service from Gatwick to the hotel (9am to 9pm and back again from the hotel to Gatwick 24 hours a day). Our hotel reception is open for check in 24 hours a day so whatever time your flight arrives, there's always someone here to welcome you.

Why stay at the Gatwick Belmont Hotel?

There are numerous reasons why customers stay in the Gatwick area, of course most of it is related to flying. Many people book worldwide flights that only fly from Gatwick and not their local airports. Our customers drive from Cornwall, Devon, South Wales, the Midlands or even from the North of England, as well as many guests closer to home; driving up the night before to avoid the risk of getting stuck in traffic and missing their flight. People from the Channel Islands who can't risk booking a connecting flight will stay the night in Gatwick.

Do you have an early flight to catch from Gatwick Airport and don't want to risk travelling on the same day, getting stuck in traffic and missing your flight? Stay at our Gatwick hotel and start your holiday early.

 About the Gatwick Belmont Hotel

The Gatwick Belmont Hotel, in Horley, Surrey, was originally built in 1901 by a local doctor for his family home. It was named Mena House and then many years later it was changed to a Guest House by Mr Gucci. Being in such close proximity to Gatwick Airport it soon turned into a thriving business. In 1996 Kevin & Kathleen Hagerty purchased Belmont House with 7 letting bedrooms . Due to the increasing demand for bed and breakfast in the Gatwick area, they soon asked their son, Gary, to help run the hotel. The hotel became increasingly popular and was extended 4 times expanding the hotel to 26 bedrooms and a bar restaurant.

We pride ourselves in being that little bit different to most of other Gatwick hotels, not only because we are family run and add that personal touch of one on one customer service. Our rooms are not all exactly the same unlike some bigger Gatwick hotels, again we like to put a personal touch on each and every room. We also cater for things that others don’t such as we have two rooms for holding functions, an English style pub restaurant and all rooms en-suite.

The name of the hotel was changed from Belmont House to Gatwick Belmont Hotel and is a registered company in the UK under Gatwick Belmont Ltd.

The Gatwick Belmont Hotel employs a team of 25 staff to cover the various shifts that make up 24 hours a day 7 days a week. All members of staff are trained in various aspects of the hotel's operation to help Gatwick Belmont Hotel run as smoothly as possible. We pride ourselves on a friendly, professional service and our staff are always on hand to help with any requests you may have.

 Family History

The Hagerty family became interested in buying a bed and breakfast close to Gatwick Airport due to their friendship with Graham and Rosie Everett who owned Gainsborough Lodge Guest House which is located just across the road.

They had run Gainsborough Lodge for a number of years and when another Gatwick B & B came up for sale The Castle Lodge Gatwick, Graham put the owner in touch with the Hagerty family, the whole purchase process began, and things were moving forward. But as is often the case with the UK property system the owners of the Castle Lodge gazumped or pulled out on the final day and final hour which left the Hagerty family, after selling their own family home, nowhere to live and forced to rent a flat.
As is the case with many things in life, luck was on their side, within weeks another property went up for sale – this time, The Gatwick Belmont Hotel – and everything went to plan. Soon after the purchase completed the expansion started to turn a small guest house into an independent Gatwick hotel and 11 years later this is what we have.
