About the Gatwick Belmont Hotel
The Gatwick Belmont Hotel, in Horley, Surrey, was originally built in 1901 by a local doctor for his family home, it was named Mena House and then many years later it was changed to a Guest House by Mr Gucci. Being in such close proximity to Gatwick Airport it soon turned into a thriving business, in 1996 Kevin & Kathleen Hagerty purchased Belmont House with 7 letting bedrooms . Due to the increasing demand for bed and breakfast in the Gatwick area, they soon asked their son, Gary, to help run the hotel. The guest house became increasingly popular and was extended 4 times expanding the hotel to 26 bedrooms and a bar restaurant.
We pride ourselves in being that little bit different to most of our competitors not only because we are family run and add that personal touch of one on one customer service. Our rooms are not all exactly the same unlike some bigger Gatwick chain hotels, again we like to put a personal touch on each and every room. We also cater for things that others don’t such as we have two rooms for holding functions, an English style pub restaurant and all rooms en-suite.
The name of the hotel was changed from Belmont House to Gatwick Belmont Hotel and is a registered company in the UK under Gatwick Belmont Ltd.
The Gatwick Belmont Hotel employs a team of 25 staff to cover the various shifts that make up 24 hours a day 7 days a week. All members of staff are trained in various aspects of the Gatwick guest house’s operation to help Gatwick Belmont Hotel run as smoothly as possible. We pride ourselves on a friendly, professional service and our staff are always on hand to help with any requests you may have.

"Your hotel staff is wonderful and so friendly. The young man who picked us up from Gatwick airport was so nice! As we arrived right in time for dinner, it was nice to have a place to have a meal right where we were staying. Our dinner was served quickly and it was piping hot and very tasty. The Pub was fun and we really enjoyed talking with all the happy guests also staying at your hotel. The Town of Horley where your hotel is located is lovely. We felt very safe walking into town in the evening. It is a very short stroll into town and you can walk to the train station to get the train to London - very convenient. Your morning breakfasts were greatly appreciated. We enjoyed our stay so much that we discussed coming back to London soon and again staying at the Gatwick Belmont hotel. Thank you for such a pleasant time." (97014491)
Your close location to LGW Gatwick Airport is so convenient! Being picked up by your hotel transfer staff helped to take the stress out of the whole airport process.
We needed a nights accommodation before flying out of Gatwick at 6am and this guest house was a good place to stay. The location was really good also.
Convenient for Gatwick, helpful and prompt pickup and drop-off service. Handy for Horley Station to travel into London.
I consider this to be a very lucky find. The room and especially the bed were most comfortable. The Traditional English Roast beef & trimmings were also a nice treat which helped put me in the mood to face that long transatlantic journey. I hope to return again soon.

The Hagerty family became interested in buying a bed and breakfast close to Gatwick Airport due to their friendship with Graham and Rosie Everett who owned Gainsborough Lodge Guest House which is located just across the road.
They had run Gainsborough Lodge for a number of years and when another Gatwick B & B came up for sale The Castle Lodge Gatwick, Graham put the owner in touch with the Hagerty family, the whole purchase process began and things were moving forward. But as is often the case with the UK property system the owners of the Castle Lodge gazumped or pulled out on the final day and final hour which left the Hagerty family, after selling their own family home, nowhere to live and forced to rent a flat.
As is the case with many things in life, luck was on their side, within weeks another property went up for sale – this time, The Gatwick Belmont Hotel – and everything went to plan. Soon after the purchase completed the expansion started to turn a small guest house into an independent Gatwick hotel and 11 years later this is what we have.
The Gatwick Belmont Hotel is located literally 5 minutes from Gatwick Airport and can be easily reached from the M25 then M23. There are also many train and coach services which arrive at Gatwick from other UK airports and London, and once you have arrived we can then collect from there up to 9pm (please see our courtesy pick up page for more information about our airport transfers.
We are also only a 5 minute walk form the local Surrey town of Horley which has a good choice of pubs, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, shops and the local train station with services to London or Brighton so you are not stranded at a location in the middle of nowhere.
Things To Do
If you plan to stay a while in the area during your trip some main areas to visit are London and Brighton which are just 40 minutes away by train. Apart from the local town of Horley you can visit Crawley which is about 10 minutes away by train, bus or taxi which is a major shopping area with cinemas, bowling and even a Blue Square Premier League football team.
There are a range of leisure activities in the area, of course golf is always popular just visit http://www.surreygolfguide.com/ to find local courses, please visit our things to do page for information.
The Horley Rotary Club meet here at Gatwick Belmont Hotel every Thursday at 1pm.

What type of customers stay at Gatwick Belmont Hotel Bed and Breakfast
There are numerous reasons why customers stay in the Gatwick Airport (LGW) area - of course most of it is related to flying, many people book worldwide flights that only fly from Gatwick and not their local airports, so people have to drive from Cornwall, Devon, South Wales, Midlands or even from the North of England. Many customers even a lot closer will drive up the night before to avoid the risk of getting stuck in traffic and missing their flight, also people from the Channel Islands who can't risk missing a connecting flight will stay the night in Gatwick.
We offer Gatwick Parking for all our customers while on holiday or travelling which they find a very convenient service especially with free airport transfers which is actually closer than many of the off site Gatwick parking facilities.
American and Canadian customers have found the Gatwick Belmont Hotel the place to stay for many years, whether in-between flights, seeing family or visiting London and the South Coast. Many European customers use the Gatwick Belmont Hotel due to LGW being a major hub for flights to the rest of the world.
Business travellers, people working or training in the area also find our Gatwick bed and breakfast accommodation rates very competitive while having to stay away from home and the cosy atmosphere creates a home from home feeling.
We also have a lot of big groups of charity workers using this as a convenient and budget hotel with many good links to get around the UK and in fact the rest of the world.
Also families and/or large groups of friends find us convenient because whilst being plenty big enough to cater for large groups, we are not a multi floor hotel making their stay more personal and the group not being split up.
