The Gatwick Belmont was, in my opinion, brilliant. We arrived to a lovely warm welcome from Gary, very friendly and polite. After the usual details were taken, we were shown to our room.
The room was superb, warm, comfortable and very clean.
Even though it was down stairs at the front of the hotel, no noise was heard over night in the room.
We went to the pub styled lounge at the back of the hotel, just like a normal pub without the hassle of going out in the cold. We loved it. Excellent beer and the food was very good.
In the morning we had breakfast, this was a buffet type of breakfast. Help yourself to the things you like, a good choice of everything and plenty of it, very nice.
The transfer to the airport was arranged when we booked in and arrived spot on time. We didn't need it on the way back as we had a late flight.
We left the car parked at the hotel for 3 weeks, and no problems.
It was our first time staying here, but it won't be the last. We will be back again in December without any hesitation.
Our experience was very good and would highly recommend the Gatwick Belmont. .

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are very handy.

Gatwick Belmont lived up to everything it says on the website! Picked up from the airport by a very friendly welcoming lady within 10 mins of phoning from there free phone.Room was clean and fresh very comfortable bed we slept like logs after an excellent meal in the bar, which is wood panelled and cosy real English pub! Breakfast was perfect cooked to perfection. Staff couldn't be more helpful and make the start of our holiday memorable. I would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you Gatwick Belmont!

Reviewed 3 January 2013 NEW

From the moment we first contacted the Belmont for an overnight stop between flights, we felt confident that the collection from Gatwick airport and the drop off back to Gatwick would be trouble free. And so it proved. We phoned the number they gave us at Gatwick and within 15 minutes their own courtesy bus collected us. The driver, like all the staff, was friendly and knowledgeable.

We asked Reception if there was a local eatery and they pointed us in the general direction of several, or if we wanted to eat there they had a reasonable selection and a bar. So, we plumped for this option and were not disappointed. We both decided on a chicken Madras curry which was delicious, hot and fulfilling.

Our only negative in an otherwise perfect stay was the bed (room 4) which was a tad on the hard side.

They offered us an early wake up call but we cancelled that because we were already awake. Breakfast (at 5.30 a.m.) was continental and enough to get us on our way. The courtesy bus took us back to the airport on time.

Would we stay here again - definitely and in fact we have already booked in for an overnight stay in April.

Thank you Belmont for taking a little bit of the stress out of travelling.

“Money well spent”Reviewed 6 December 2012 NEW

A cosy little hotel with everything you would expect. The bathroom had been newly refurbished and the shower was lovely, the bed was comfy, (if a little squeaky!)and the staff were friendly. One thing I would defiantly recommend is the food. It was the best food I have had in a hotel before and it was reasonably priced. If you are flying from Gatwick early and you need to stay over night, then this is the place. A wake up call and a cheap and quick transfer to the airport.

“Returning Customer”Reviewed 10 November 2012

This is our second stay at the Belmont. We have been assured of a stress-free start to our holiday each time and always recieve a warm welcome (especially if Rosa is on the desk :0) ). The rooms are clean and plenty hot water for the shower in the morning. We have yet to sample the cooked breakfast on offer, as our flights are always early. But the choice for the continental breakfast is excellent. The parking is an added bonus as is the transport to and from the airport, nothing is too much trouble. We will continue to be regular customers and have already booked ourroom for March 2013.

Room Tip: 3 for a double and single, or 4 for a double, both very quiet.See more room tips

“Carefree Start to a Holiday!”Reviewed 24 October 2012

We stayed here the night before travelling to Cuba for 2 weeks. Easy to find. On arrival we received a very warm welcome at reception. We were given Room 13 outside, motel type room , very clean, more than adequate for the stopover, very quiet, hot shower. We could have eaten in the bar/restaurant but the only reason we didn't was that it was too warm! The next morning we got the hotel shuttle to the South Terminal, no hassle at all and arrived in less than 10 mins. On our return we had been held up for over 8hrs, I rang the Belmonte as advised and was greeted warmly and reassured there was no problem as they had followed our flight and knew we would be delayed, we were collected in a very short time and transferred back to the hotel to collect our car. I can make no comment on breakfast as we left fairly early. I will definitely use the Belmonte next year and recommend them to family friends. Thank you

“Warm & welcoming”Reviewed 19 October 2012

Great place, owner was very nice and let us book and check in at 4am due to cancelled flight. Allowed us to sleep in the warm, cosy bar until he cleaned the room out for us. The room was heated, small but very homey and had everything we needed.

“Did what I needed”Reviewed 29 September 2012

Stayed here for just one night after landing very late at Gatwick airport. Clean, comfortable bedroom with good shower room and excellent breakfast. Speedy return to the airport next morning for a small fee. Altogether it suited my purpose and I shall be returning later in the year.

“Suited my needs”Reviewed 28 September 2012

Used this hotel for a nights stay and 16 days car parking. Can't understand the negative comments from some people regarding the decor etc. It isn't the sort of place where you are going to spend more than a couple of nights in because like many others, it is convenient for Gatwick airport and that is surely why you would book to stay there?
I agree that some of the hotel is in need of a slight update, but overall a reasonably good place to stay for a reasonable cost. The bar/restaurant has a limited selection of food, but why try to have an extensive menu - it works very well how they do it.
Excellent airport transfers to and from (free) and friendly staff. I have already booked a room for my next trip in April 2013.

“Repeat customer, can't rate highly enough”Reviewed 4 September 2012

Use this hotel several times a year for parking. Almost always faultless, save for the odd very slightly surly staff member (admittedly, this isn't typical). Generally very, very good. Can't complain. Have recommended to family and friends and will continue to use again. Brilliant location and good transfer services! Good management. They know their trade and always willing to help.

“Normal standard”Reviewed 24 August 2012

After being away for over year it was to be an interesting return to see how the hotel had changed, if at all. The young lady on the reception was new and her pleasant attitude and helpfulness was very much appreciated. A good addition to the staff.
Food was very good along with the service, staff and chefs do credit to the hotel. My wife has eaten steaks here for the last five years and never complained yet.! Overall the standard has improved in my opinion and some "top class" hotels need to raise their standard to that of the Gatwick Belmont. Traffic passing on the road at the front of the hotel can be disturbing if you are a light sleeper or not used to road noises, if you are, just request a room away from the front.

Warning, book via the hotel direct, if not sure of the web site just call direct to the hotel, otherwise it becomes expensive.

Will continue to stay here when travelling as every thing is very comfortable.

Room Tip: If light sleeper ask for a room away from the front of the hotel.See more room tips

"Very Friendly" - 14th August 2012

just back from a 1 night stay and park.

I'm very surprised that some reviewers were unhappy with staff who we found to be very helpful and pleasant. pick up from airport was prompt and the polish lady (sorry i missed the name) was extremely friendly and on knowing we had a 4 hour drive ahead of us with 2 small children following a long haul flight happily invited us to tea and coffee.
would certainly use in the future.
Triple rooms also made it a good option for us.

“A good deal”Reviewed 26 June 2012

We have visited four times, as we have found it comfortable, convenient, and good value. Transfers to and from Gatwick Airport work smoothly and efficiently, and we have found all the staff friendly and helpful. What makes it stand out from its competitors is that Gatwick Belmont has its own bar and hot food facilities.

Overall - 4/5

“Visiting from Australia”Reviewed 16 June 2012

Stayed here at the end of our trip, excellent location but best of all was the helpfulness of the family owners, they are so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Our room was large and very clean. The restaurant offers great meals at a reasonable cost. The shuttle service to and for the airport well run. I would recommend this hotel.

“Fabulous Breakfast!”Reviewed 6 June 2012

Great place to stay before your flight from Gatwick. The room was comfortable and clean, the shower was good and the breakfast was wonderful. Not just two kinds of eggs (scrambled and poached) but bacon and sausage, beans, wheat toast (not just white) and fresh fruit as well as juice.

And then, free shuttle service to the airport too!

And a very friendly welcome when we arrived.

“Gatwick Belmont”Reviewed 23 May 2012

We have returned to Canada and I can assure you all we meet who are planning to travel through Gatwick will be given your hotels information. It truly was the nicest place we stayed in in our entire holiday. Easily accessible ground floor room for my friend with the walker, excellent shuttle service to and from the airport and your dinner menu was delicious and your dining area made us feel as though we were home already. What a wonderful place to start or end a holiday. Thank you so much

“"Praise where due"”Reviewed 16 May 2012

As a business woman frequent stays in hotels are a familiar pattern in my life style. I very much agree in acknowledging outstanding service.
The Belmont Hotel certainly gave me perfect opportunity to give them the appraisal they deserve.

The staff were 100% efficient in everyway
The rooms were beautifully cleaned and comfortable.
Full english breakfast with all the trimmings was a welcomed treat.
Finally to be driven the short distance, stress free to Gatwick airport by a friendly smiley face set me up for my next step of the journey.

Thankyou to all at Belmont Hotel and keep up the impeccable service.

“Really nice start to our family holiday”Reviewed 8 May 2012

We decided t stay at the Gatwick Belmont the night before the start of our family holiday. We have 2 young children and wanted to give them a great experience on their first oversees holiday and flight. The staff were very helpful and nice - especially for our children- and could not do enough to ensure we had a great experience. The room was a good size and had everything we needed. We decided to eat at the hotel and have a drink in the bar area - the food was really nice and good value for money - and the children also enjoyed the out side area. The next morning we had breakfast and was then dropped off to the airport with the hotel free service - which took no time at all and was an added bonus, They even collected us from the airport and looked after our car while we were away. All in all,a really enjoyable start to our holiday and would always recommend the Gatwick Belmont to all families looking for a great start to your holiday.

“Mary. Excellent Budget Hotel”Reviewed 3 May 2012

I have stayed many times and am always happy to return. Convenient for Gatwick,a bonus that you are picked up and returned to the Airport.
Nice to be able to have a meal in the hotel and an excellent breakfast. If you are leaving early you can always get cereal, toast etc.
The staff are all very pleasant and helpful and if you want to go up to Horley it is a short walk away.

“Convenient to Gatwick”Reviewed 25 April 2012

Enjoyed my stay at the Gatwick Belmont. It was extremely convenient to the airport. Just a short cab ride away. The staff was wonderful and pleasant. I had dinner in the bar and it was good, washed down with a few pints. I was comfortable in the room although the bathroom lacks space. The convenience of being near Gatwick and the hotel supplying transfers on its own cheaply is the hotel's main selling point. The staff only made my stay better. I would stay here again if I have an early flight and need to be located near the airport.

“Faultless stay”Reviewed 26 March 2012

We chose to stay at the Belmont prior to our flight from Gatwick recently. What a great service! we were taken to the airport in the morning, leaving our car at the premises while we were away. Just a call from the airport and we were picked up, given a very welcome come of tea before starting our journey home to Wales. The staff are very helpful and friendly and our room to the side of the hotel was warm, comfortable and clean. We would certainly book with them again if we are planning to be in that area.

“Acheson/Duplessis stays in February-March 2012”Reviewed 15 March 2012

We were glad to have a room for some daylight hours after flying to Gatwick from Toronto and before flying on in Europe. Shuttle runs were included in the price. We later stayed for two nights before flying to Madeira, and one night on return. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and well appointed, proximity to Gatwick is ideal, and value for money is very good. We are happy to have discovered the Belmont and intend to return on our future regular visits to UK. At our advanced age the annex suits us perfectly!

“Friendly, Clean, Convenient Location”Reviewed 11 March 2012

We have stayed at the Belmont several times now and are returning again this year.
It is a great stop over before / after flights from Gatwick. We stayed in family rooms on all occasions, sometimes upstairs within the main hotel, sometimes the annex rooms to the side. Regardless the rooms have always been spotlessly clean and secure.
The food is great but if you want something different from what the Belmont offers for an evening meal you are located about ten minutes walk from Wetherspoons.
Breakfast is great, with a self service full english on offer from about 7am, prior to that there is a choice of fruit, toast and cereals.
Great car parking deals are offered if you stay at the Belmont, much cheaper that you will find at the airport. Also the Hotel offers free transfers to and from the airport. It is about 5-10 minute journey if traffic is good and the regular shuttle leaves every thirty minutes throughout the waking day and by appointment overnight.
Staff were friendly and arranged early access to our room following an overnight flight home. Couldn't have been nicer.

“Best of the Bunch”Reviewed 5 February 20121 person found this review helpful

We've stayed at several hotels before flying from gatwick, and this is the best so far. They did a really good deal for staying and leaving the car, dropped us and collected us quickly and in a friendly way. Great to be able to eat there after a long drive up, and to be able to change and have a cup of coffee when we got back before leaving. The room was clean and adequate, and the staff really cooperative. Will certainly go back!

“Clean & Convenient”Reviewed 4 February 2012

Spotlessly clean & great value. Bed & decorating was a bit dated, but every single corner was clean & staff was very helpful.
I tried to walk it from the train station & got a bit lost. Here are some directions:
Exit the train station from the upper platform.
Turn left (you are on Victoria Road)
At the first traffic lights, turn LEFT (2 minute walk)
Walk all the way to the end of the road(8 minute walk)
Turn LEFT - this is Massetts Road (There's no signage...)
Hotel is 50m ahead on the RIGHT.

“Clean, pleasant, convenient and value for money.”Reviewed 2 February 2012 via mobile

Only an £8 taxi fair from Gatwick Airport. Clean and welcoming. Reception staff polite and helpful. My room was small-ish but serviceable and spotlessly clean. Everything I needed for a brief overnight stay was provided. Wireless access is also available - though I did not take this up. I didn't have breakfast or try out the bar/restaurant so I cannot comment on those - but as a hotel I would have no hesitation in reccomendation this hotel for a stop-over for travellers.
